Bertha
Bertha is the couch at Dear Lucy. She has resided in the space since the '80s. As we prepare for our move to 50 Church Street we have started to asses what to leave, take, recycle & trash. So, we needed to decide on Bertha.
Currently Bertha is in a state of disrepair & it only makes sense. Around Christmas of this year we started to notice more cracks in her leather & then she developed some tears- which makes sense. She takes a beating on a daily basis. She has had thousand upon thousand of people sitting on her in her the last 40 years. She has had multiple lattes spilled on her & ice creams dripped. She is the husband/father/brother babysitter while their significant others try on pair ofter pair. She acts as a trampoline while tired mothers try to shop.
So this weekend we polled our clients on what we should do with Bertha & they (you) voted that Bertha deserves a "glow-up" and the chance to move with us to our new, bigger & better space!
So in a month or so Bertha will be picked up, dismantled, and make a trip south where she will get covered in new leather & then moved back into her new home for our grand opening! We are nervous to see what the carpet looks like under her after so many years in one spot?! And cheers to no more carpet in the new space ;)
This rehab comes at a cost of $5000-$7000. So, please continue to shop our sale section of hundreds of pairs to help fund her new look. We are still doing our moving sale & will continue to fundraise before our move. we will be raising funds for new signage, paint, fixtures & our beloved couch.
We can't do it without our community!! We hope to be your family-run, local shoe store for the next 40 years!!
